Sightseeing
of capital of Croatia – Zagreb or Sisak – town on the rivier Sisak - The city complex of the Roman Siscia consists
of a bulwark with an internal tower, a defence entrenchment and a part of a
late-Roman monumental building, while Stari grad (the Old Town), the
Renaissance fort, is proof of the historical battle with the Ottomans in 1593.
The
Lonjsko polje Nature Park stretches along the left bank of the river Sava,
downstream from Sisak.
The splendour of this area is emphasised by the villages
along the river Sava and its armlets, on which there are many rural estates
where you can relax and spend unforgettable moments.
The unique and well
preserved architecture of the wooden houses, on which numerous storks nest, are
another attractive feature.
Since it is a refuge for numerous storks, the
village of Čigoć was declared a European stork village.
Day 4: Osijek and Đakovo / Overnight
in Osijek
After
the guided tour of Osijek we drive to Đakovo.
On the
edge of the Kopački rit Nature Park in a local restaurant we have dinner with
music.Our suggestion - Đakovački vezovi 01.07.-03.07.2016
In summertime, Đakovo
celebrates its long standing and rich tradition, by presenting three different
aspects of Slavonic cultural tradition, integrated into a single event in
July: folklore, which the visitors can enjoy within numerous music programs;
gastronomy, the highlights of its diversity being the famous fish stew, čobanac
(shepherd’s stew) and Đakovo kulen; and the horse breeding tradition, its
splendor presented in the equestrian competitions at the Đakovo hippodrome.
This year, all lovers of Slavonia’s and Baranja’s cultural heritage will once
again be able to enjoy thousands of folk costumes, music, dances and customs,
all of which are a great source of pride for this region.
They will all take
part in the colorful and merry festive procession.
Day 5: Vukovar and Ilok with wine
tasting in wine region Baranja – Ilok / Overnight in Osijek
Ilok is the easternmost town in Croatia and it
is where the east and the west merge.
It rises harmoniously over the Danube and
is surrounded by the slopes of Fruška gora and beautiful vineyards. Vukovar is located in the Eastern part of the
Republic of Croatia and is the centre of the Vukovar-Syrmia County.
Its
location places it at the border of historical provinces Eastern Slavonia and
Western Syrmia. The city is positioned on important transport routes.
Since time
immemorial transport routes from the northwest to the southeast were active in
the Danube Valley through the Vukovar area.
After steam ships were introduced
in the mid 19th century, and with the arrival of present day tourist ships,
Vukovar is connected with Budapest and Vienna upstream and all the way to
Romania downstream.
The Vukovar harbor is an important import and export
station. The Danube has always been and remains the connection of the people of
Vukovar with Europe and the world.
Day 6: Homeward journey.
